Cabins 4 Kids

Cabins 4 Kids (C4K) is a partner organization working to build environmentally low-impact semi-permanent camp cabins: the RYCCA Cabin.

As believers, the volunteers with Cabins 4 Kids feel that God calls us to help those in need, and think camps provide superior outreach tools that enable youth to learn about God’s love in a nature-filled environment.

These cabins, used as sleeping quarters, also provide a unique atmosphere for teaching and developing young minds during camps. Each cabin costs $3,500 but for only $13 a square foot, your direct contribution can shape the next generation by providing a place of community for kids at camp.

Mexico - The Kids

Children in Mexico come from many different backgrounds. These children often have a limited or inaccurate knowledge of God. Fortunately, Christ-centered camps allows for priceless opportunities to learn about Jesus Christ.

By providing a safe environment for hundreds of otherwise unreached kids, camps relay the love of Christ through interaction with devoted leaders and believing peers.

How Can You Help?

As reflected in recent news, Mexico may seem like a frightening place. So, imagine what life is like for the kids who grow up amidst these hardships. Cabins 4 Kids creates opportunities for kids to learn fundamental life lessons, and more importantly, be introduced to God.

Currently, camps across Latin America are developing innovative ways to operate and organize such ministries. A vital component of camps is a portable, weatherproof shelter. Cabins 4 Kids’ geodesic-based cabin is an affordable, practical, and fun way to meet this need.

For $3,500 ($13/sq. ft.), one of these domes can be completely operational, creating a safe environment for kids to encounter the unconditional love of Christ.

We need your help. Please support Cabins 4 Kids as we raise money to equip camp directors with the resources they need to be effective for the Kingdom of God.

About the Cabins

During camp season, the amount of daily rainfall makes adequate, safe shelter for campers imperative.

This style of cabin has a 5.5 meter diameter and are made of tubular metal pipes, bolts, and durable weatherproof tarp.

These low impact structures are semi-permanent and therefore, easily transported, making for an ideal housing option at camps.

What Others are Saying About the RYCCA Cabin

"En mi opinión, las cabinas RYCCA por lo novedoso y funcional ayudará a muchos campamentos creando un ambiente diferente"

[In my opinion, the RYCCA cabins, because of their novelty/originality/creativity and functionally, provide a different environment that will help camps grow in a better way.]

"The geodesic dome [RYCCA cabins] are designed to sleep eight people at a time, with plenty of space.  The material used for beds are kind of like a hammock, and are far better than sleeping on a cot or on the ground.  There are benifits to the size of the dome, that allows people to be creative with the interior space, especially if you have a group.  There is plenty of space to put suitcases under the lower beds, there is plenty of room for a table or other things so people can move around comfortably while inside.  The design of the domes is a perfect fit for the things trying to be accomplished at the camp.  I slept in the dome better than I ever have while camping in a typical tent, or on the ground.  I think most people that experience camping will find that this style of camping with be a little more "luxurious" campaired to the standard style of camping."

"When I first heard the idea for the RYCCA Cabin I was skeptical, but after I had the chance to see it and touch it I am sold on this idea. First the RYCCA Cabins are semi permanent which means that once you create a flat area for the tent you can set it up and leave it worry free for the season and then take it down for storage during the off season. In Mexico we have security risks because people will steal anything, especially metal and sell it for scrap. Therefore, the semi-permanent Cabin is perfect for this environment. We also have less resources and the idea of moving a structure to a different location when needed would be very helpful to many camps in Mexico.

"Second the RYCCA Cabin is large and leaves space in the middle for cabin time and activities. Mexico has a rainy season and many camps have no place for the campers to go, but their tents, during the rain. Having the extra space makes programming options viable. Since the structure is super strong the frame makes a great playground inside or outside. Activities can be created specifically using the structure. The Cabin will add to the program of any camp not just sleeping space.

"Third the RYCCA Cabin is inexpensive. One of the challenges that Mexican camps face are enough finances to build proper facilities. Therefore many camps never get off the drawing board because they don't have enough resources to get off the ground. With these Cabins and a minimal investment a camp could ideally be up and running in a matter of weeks if not days. Another great benefit is that the beds are included. Nothing extra needs to be built, no mattresses need to be bought, everything is ready including the lights. This is one slick unity.

"The RYCCA cabin is spacious, inexpensive, fun, movable and may just be the thing needed to get new camps, out of the planning stage and into the ministry of reaching kids for Christ."

"At Camp El Monte in Morelos, Mexico, we are developing a brand new Christian camping ministry center.  As God provides the funds, we are building new cabins and other facilities.  The good news is, our ministry growth is exceeding our facility growth!  We've found that the RYCCA Cabin is a very economical way to provide adequate housing for more guests.  We've tried regular camping tents, but with central Mexico's tropical rains, normal tents are not an option!  RYCCA's cabins are much more durable and will stand up to heavy wind and rain.  What's more, each one comfortably accommodates eight people in cots off the ground.  We've found this to be a creative and economical option to provide more housing space while we wait for more cabins to be built."
